Fecal Incontinenece
Inability to control bowel movements, causing stool (feces) to leak unexpectedly from the rectum is known as fecal incontinence. It is also known as bowel incontinence.Fecal incontinence is a most embarrassing and debilitating disorder.Nowadays it is commonly affected in near about 27% of the population.It generally occurs in old age.The main Complaints of Fecal Incontinence is an involuntary discharge of stool and gases.This involves numerous anatomic and physiologic factors. These include sphincter function, anorectal sensation, colonic transit, stool consistency, and neurologic as well as cognitive elements. Disruption of any number of the above can predispose a patient to incontinence.
Causes:-
Injury to spincter
nerve injury,
surgical trauma,
neuropathy,
long time constipation or diarrhea,
rectal prolapse,
ulcerative colitis
Age factor
muscle or tissue atrophy
Symptoms:-
The patient may be unable to resist the urge to defecate
people are not aware of the need to pass stool.
Diarrhea
Constipation
Gas and bloating
Treatment:-
Diet and exercise : –
Avoid Vatakarhar like dry food items and bakery products
Avoid fermented food items and bakery products
Avouid milk products also
Eat a fresh and hot meal
Eat light food like daliya and soaji
Avoid heavy, oily and spicy food
Drink plenty of water if there is constipation
A regular walk is recommended
Do muladhar bandh exercise
Asan like pavanmuktasana,naukasanasa ,vajrasans is beneficial for this
Medicines like are:-Bilvavaleha,kutajarishta,dashamooljiraka,swarna,shankhavati,sutshekharar,rasapachakayoga,sanjivanivati sunthighan, haritaki Ghana etc are good for digestive system alteration
For vitiated Vata dosha :- Bruhatvatachintamanirasa,vatagajankushrasa,vatachintamani rasa are recommended.
Panchkarma like :-
Basti-Anuvasana and Niruha re recommended.
Virechana- also helps in ulteration of diagestive fire
